VALDUR LED street luminaire with an SMC composite housing
VALDUR is POLAB's range of LED street luminaires for streets and roads. The SMC thermoset composite housing is designed for urban, industrial and exposed environments.

- IP66 / IK08
- Made in Sweden

The construction behind VALDUR
VALDUR is an LED street luminaire developed by POLAB. The housing is made from glass-fibre-reinforced SMC thermoset composite — a non-metallic, lightweight material that does not undergo metallic or electrochemical corrosion. See where VALDUR is used for street lighting, road lighting and paths.
Manufacturing and configurations
The housing is compression-moulded in Ljungby; assembly and quality assurance take place in Fristad. VALDUR is built for municipal, road, industrial, public and coastal environments. Six power variants use the same housing, differing in power, colour temperature, optics and controls. Electronics from Philips/Signify, optics from LEDiL.

Housing and screws
The glass-fibre-reinforced SMC housing does not undergo metallic or electrochemical corrosion. The screws are A4 stainless steel, and the cover is 4 mm tempered glass. Explore the materials.
Weight and mounting
The luminaire weighs 3.5–5.1 kg depending on the configuration and mounts on a Ø 48 or 60 mm pole. See the dimension drawing in the product sheet.
LED module lifetime projection
L90/B10 is projected to exceed 100,000 hours for the LED module. This projection applies to the module, not to a guaranteed lifetime for the complete luminaire. Explore the LED module.
Optional controls
A Zhaga Book 18 socket, DALI-2 and a D4i-certified driver can be selected to suit the project. Explore control options.
Calculated values for 2200–4000 K: Signify Fortimo 2×4/2×6, Tc 65 °C and assumed glass factor 1/1.10. Luminaire values and article/E-number correspondence are verified before ordering.

VALDUR in Smögen
In Smögen, Sotenäs municipality, VALDUR is used with AirGlow from LumenRadio. Explore the installation and its lighting control in the reference project.

How much light is needed?
When planning LED street lighting, the lighting class, road width, mounting height and pole spacing affect how much light is needed. Compare the VALDUR models as a first step; a lighting calculation shows a suitable configuration.
Compare models →Which light colour suits the location?
Choose the colour temperature to suit the place and its use. VALDUR has warm white 3000 K and neutral white 4000 K as standard. With a 2200 K LED, Amber gives approximately 1900 K output in LEDiL’s indicative example; other LED temperatures are specified for the project.
Colour temperatures and LED light →Where should the light go?
Optics and light distribution shape how the light reaches a carriageway, footpath or other area. VALDUR uses LEDiL STRADA DWC as its standard optic; other compatible STRADA, AMBER and SPECTRE lenses are project options checked with a lighting calculation.

Read more about materials → Product sheetTechnical data
The housing is compression-moulded in SMC thermoset composite under high pressure. The glass fibres are embedded in a polymer matrix that cross-links into a dimensionally stable thermoset. The material does not remelt like a thermoplastic, but its properties can be affected by temperature and prolonged heat exposure. The SMC housing does not undergo metallic or electrochemical corrosion. The patent-pending integrated heat-dissipation system helps dissipate heat within the luminaire’s specified operating range.
Fasteners are in 316 stainless steel (marine grade) and the cover is 4 mm tempered glass. More detail under Materials.
Colour temperatures and LED light
Lower colour temperature gives a warmer appearance. Consider users, surroundings and project requirements; colour temperature alone does not determine comfort or visibility.
2200 K LED → approximately 1900 K Amber light
A warm, cosy tone. According to LEDiL manufacturer data, the AMBER lens provides approximately 99% reduction of LED light within 380–500 nm; performance depends on the LED, CCT and optic, and suitability near sensitive habitats requires a project-specific assessment.
3000 K — Warm white
Warm-white light to consider for residential areas, parks and town centres. Light levels and distribution are selected for the site.
4000 K — Neutral white
Neutral-white light to consider for roads and industry. Efficacy depends on the chosen configuration; compare the table values and lighting calculation.
2200–5700 K
Other colour temperatures for particular requirements are ordered as needed.
Optics and light distributions
Optics and light distributions
DWC is standard. Other optic and control options are handled as project enquiries. The product code and performance are specified in the quotation.
| Distribution | Character | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|
| T2 | Narrow, long reach | Pedestrian/cycle paths, narrow streets, lit trails |
| DWC | Asymmetric, medium-wide | Local streets, general urban lighting |
| T4 | Extremely wide spread | Squares, parking areas, wide roads |
| ME | Medium-wide with backlight. Available on request. | Main streets and areas requiring high uniformity |
| SCL | Extra long reach | Projects with long pole spacing |
Three lens families
STRADA — clear lens. Performance is specified for the selected LED module and distribution.
AMBER — according to LEDiL manufacturer data, approximately 99% reduction within 380–500 nm; depends on the LED, CCT and optic and requires a project-specific assessment near sensitive habitats.
SPECTRE — optics for a reduced blue-light component. The spectrum and luminous flux for VALDUR require confirmation for the chosen LED and lens combination.

ColorRevive (Ra ≥ 80) provides higher colour rendering than standard (Ra ≥ 70), but typically lower luminous efficacy (lm/W). The exact difference depends on the LED module and operating conditions. ColorRevive offers fewer LED colour temperatures: 2700 and 3000 K. With Amber and Spectre, CRI after the lens is confirmed separately.
Select a lens family to see the relevant colour temperatures. The LED source’s colour temperature and the light output after Amber or Spectre are shown separately.

How to read the product code
Ordering
How to read VALDUR’s product code
The enquiry code summarises the model, LED source, optics, finish, Zhaga, CRI and driver family. For project configurations, the orderable product code and technical values are specified in the quotation. Standard products have their own product codes and Swedish E-numbers.
How to read the product code
Preliminary example = VALDUR 60, 2200 K, STRADA optics, T2 distribution, light grey, with a top Zhaga socket (ZH1) and standard LED with Ra ≥ 70 (R70) and a Sensor Ready driver (SR).
Zhaga Book 18: ZH0 (no socket) · ZH1 (top) · ZH2 (bottom) · ZH3 (top and bottom). In new codes, Kelvin always specifies the LED source before the lens. With Amber, 2200 K LED gives approximately 1900 K output in the LEDiL example. The final segment identifies the driver family. Polab confirms the exact driver model and settings.
E-numbers
White 3000/4000 K and Amber approx. 1900 K.
Standard configuration: DWC, standard LED, LP driver and ZH0 without a Zhaga socket. Project configurations require a confirmed product code.

E-numbers and product codes
The 3000 K and 4000 K numbers in the tables apply to the complete white standard configuration: STRADA DWC, standard LED, Philips Xitanium LP driver, ZH0 without a Zhaga socket, and a light-grey or black finish. Other optics, drivers and Zhaga choices are project configurations and do not automatically inherit the same E-number.
White-light values at 2200–4000 K are provisional calculated luminaire values based on component data, not measured photometry of the complete luminaire. The final configuration and article/E-number correspondence are verified before ordering. Amber is reported separately.
