POLAB provides warranty on VALDUR luminaires in plain English, without legalistic small print. These are the terms we stand behind — and what we cannot take responsibility for.

CORROSION WARRANTY
Corrosion warranty for the luminaire housing
The housing is manufactured from glass fibre reinforced SMC composite and does not undergo metallic or electrochemical corrosion. POLAB provides a 20-year corrosion warranty for the luminaire housing from the delivery date, subject to the terms below.

Note
The corrosion warranty is valid from the delivery date and covers corrosion of the luminaire housing. Seals, gaskets, and other functional components are covered by the five-year functional warranty under its terms. Both warranties require that the luminaire has been installed, used, and maintained in accordance with POLAB's installation instructions. External impact such as vehicle collision, vandalism, or extreme weather events is not covered, nor is incorrect installation or use outside the product specification.
FUNCTIONAL COMPONENTS

POLAB's five-year functional warranty covers manufacturing defects in the driver and LED module from the delivery date, provided the luminaire has been installed and operated in accordance with the stated specification.

Note
The warranty does not cover damage from overvoltage, voltage outside the stated specification, water ingress due to incorrect installation, unauthorised intervention, or modifications.

For projects of 50 or more luminaires, POLAB can discuss project-specific service terms, extended warranty periods, and SLA commitments. These terms are documented in the supply agreement.

Relationship to ALEM 09
ALEM 09 applies only where this has been specifically agreed. The five-year functional warranty and twenty-year corrosion warranty are POLAB's own warranty undertakings, separate from ALEM 09. The full cost coverage under the five-year functional warranty does not follow automatically from ALEM 09. These warranties do not limit any liability arising under the applicable contract.
What the warranty provides
For an approved claim under POLAB's five-year functional warranty, POLAB covers the full remedy: a complete replacement luminaire or repair, together with the necessary fault diagnosis, access, removal, installation, and lifting equipment. For an approved claim under the twenty-year corrosion warranty, POLAB provides a complete replacement luminaire or repairs the defect. Costs for fault diagnosis, access, removal, installation, lifting equipment, and other labour are not included under the twenty-year corrosion warranty unless otherwise agreed.
WHAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER
What we cannot take responsibility for.
We aim to be clear rather than burying exclusions in language that no one can easily understand. Below are the most common situations where the warranty does not normally apply.
Mechanical damage
Damage caused by collision, vandalism, storm, or external impact.
Incorrect installation
Installation that deviates from the installation instructions, including incorrect cable connection.
Overvoltage and power supply
Damage from overvoltage, lightning strike effects, or supply voltage outside the stated specification.
Unauthorised modifications
Interventions, modifications, or additions not made by or in consultation with POLAB.
Normal lumen depreciation
Gradual reduction in luminous flux is a normal characteristic of LED modules and is not covered where it remains within published L90 parameters.
Externally mounted Zhaga components
Moisture ingress or consequential damage via a top-mounted socket, external sensor, or third-party node — see the terms under Ingress protection and external Zhaga interfaces below.
MAKING A WARRANTY CLAIM
How we handle a warranty claim.
We want to make warranty claims as straightforward as possible. No forms — just an email with the right information.

Send an email to [email protected] with subject line: “Warranty claim VALDUR”.
Include order reference and fault description
Your order number or delivery date, number of affected luminaires, site description, and a photograph if possible.
Response within five working days
We normally respond within five working days with an assessment and next steps.
Remedy for an approved warranty claim
For an approved claim under POLAB's five-year functional warranty, POLAB covers the full remedy: a complete replacement luminaire or repair, together with the necessary fault diagnosis, access, removal, installation, and lifting equipment. Under the twenty-year corrosion warranty, POLAB provides a complete replacement luminaire or repairs the defect. Costs for fault diagnosis, access, removal, installation, lifting equipment, and other labour are not included under the twenty-year corrosion warranty unless otherwise agreed.
Spare parts and component replacement
VALDUR can be ordered with Zhaga Book 18 interfaces for sensor and communication nodes on the top (ZH1), the bottom (ZH2) or both (ZH3). The position depends on the ordered configuration. VALDUR uses selected Philips/Signify Fortimo FastFlex LED modules. The exact module is specified for the selected configuration. POLAB intends to maintain spare parts availability over the luminaire’s service life. Contact us for spare parts status on older installations.

Ingress protection and external Zhaga interfaces
Moisture damage and consequential damage caused by water ingress through an upward-facing opening, such as a top-mounted Zhaga socket, are excluded from POLAB warranties. The exclusion applies to damage originating from that opening; the remaining parts of the luminaire remain covered by the respective warranty terms.
The twenty-year corrosion warranty covers the luminaire's standard enclosure without externally mounted feed-throughs or control components.
Moisture ingress, condensation, or consequential damage attributable to a top-mounted Zhaga socket, external sensor, communication node, gasket, connection, or other externally mounted component is not covered by the corrosion warranty. This applies in particular where the component:
- has been mounted or replaced after delivery,
- has been supplied by a third party,
- is not compatible with the luminaire,
- has been incorrectly mounted,
- has a damaged, aged, or misplaced seal.
Any manufacturing or material defects in a Zhaga socket or other control component supplied and factory-fitted by POLAB are assessed under the five-year functional warranty. The warranty does not, however, cover leakage arising through an externally mounted node or through subsequent intervention in the connection.
Recommendation
For installations where the lowest possible long-term risk of moisture ingress is a priority, POLAB recommends integrated controls located inside the luminaire.
