AWARDS & DISTINCTIONS

Recognised in design, lighting, and materials engineering.

VALDUR has been recognised by leading international organisations in industrial design, lighting, and advanced composite materials — three separate assessments, one shared conclusion.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

Recognised for product quality and user-centred design.

Both the iF Design Award and the German Design Award assess products on form, function, sustainability, and relevance in real environments. VALDUR being recognised as a winner of both means the design withstands evaluation that goes beyond the aesthetic.

iF Design Award

Recognition from one of the world's most established design competitions. The iF Design Award was founded in Hamburg in 1954. Each year, tens of thousands of products from over 50 countries are submitted. VALDUR was recognised for its industrial design excellence in 2024.

For VALDUR, the recognition confirms that the decision to lead with material choice and service life — rather than conventional luminaire principles — is a distinction that is noticed beyond the lighting industry.

“VALDUR impressed a jury of 132 independent experts from around the world with its sophisticated use of composite materials, offering a pragmatic solution to environmental challenges. The choice of this material not only provides robust resistance to corrosion from salt water and industrial chemicals but also presents a lighter alternative to aluminium. This innovation extends the luminaire's lifespan and reduces maintenance needs, underlining VALDUR's commitment to sustainability and practicality in demanding environments.”

German Design Award

The German Design Award, awarded by the German Design Council, recognises outstanding product design. No company may nominate itself — all candidates must be put forward by an external party. Being selected as a Winner therefore involves two independent assessments: first, that someone both sees the value and takes the initiative to nominate; then, that an independent jury confirms it.

VALDUR received the Winner level recognition in the Industrial Design category in 2024. For VALDUR, the German Design Award marks that the design's material decisions and service life thinking are assessed as a substantive contribution to the industrial design field.

LIGHTING

Recognised by the lighting industry's own experts.

The LIT Lighting Design Award is specifically directed at lighting design and is assessed by professionals in photometrics and architectural lighting — a field with its own, more specific evaluation criteria than general design awards.

LIT Lighting Design Award

The LIT Award assesses lighting solutions specifically on how well the lighting system performs in context — visual comfort, environmental consideration, technical quality, and aesthetic integration. A Honourable Mention means a jury of lighting professionals has identified VALDUR as a project warranting particular attention.

An award specifically directed at lighting design recognising VALDUR confirms that the design also performs well on the photometric parameters that are relevant to the industry.

COMPOSITE MATERIALS ENGINEERING

Recognised by the industry's leading bodies in composite materials.

JEC World and CAMX are the world's two largest gatherings for composite materials engineering. Being nominated as a finalist at both means the material solution in VALDUR has been recognised by the specialists in the field where the material is actually produced and evaluated.

JEC World Innovation Awards Finalist 2025

JEC World in Paris is the world's largest trade fair and conference for composite materials. The JEC Innovation Awards assess technical breakthroughs across the composites industry's various application areas. VALDUR reaching the finalist stage confirms that the SMC composite approach in an outdoor luminaire is perceived as a genuine technical contribution by the materials experts themselves.

CAMX Unsurpassed Innovation Award 2025

CAMX is North America's largest conference and trade show for composites and advanced materials. The Unsurpassed Innovation Award identifies projects that step outside conventional thinking within their category. Finalist status at CAMX complements the JEC nomination and demonstrates that VALDUR has been recognised on both sides of the Atlantic by composites industry experts.

WHY DESIGN AWARDS MATTER IN STREET LIGHTING

Street luminaires are infrastructure. They occupy public space for decades, across a wide range of visual and physical environments. Design quality — material decisions, proportions, finish, and the relationship between form and function — determines how a luminaire ages in context, not just how it performs on a specification sheet.

OVERALL ASSESSMENT

Three disciplines. One conclusion.

A single design award can result from a strong presentation or a well-chosen category. When independent expert bodies in industrial design, lighting, and materials research independently recognise the same product within a single year, it is harder to dismiss as coincidence.

These awards do not answer the question "does VALDUR look good?" — they answer the question "is VALDUR a distinct and soundly engineered product?"
