APPLICATIONS
Reliable where it matters.
VALDUR is specified for environments where corrosion resistance, light quality, and service life are critical requirements — not optional.
SMC composite, low weight, IP66, IK08, and documented LED technology — a luminaire developed for demanding climates and long technical service life.
THE PROBLEM IS OFTEN INVISIBLE UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE
Illustrates general corrosion issues with outdoor luminaires in humid environments.
When the housing fails, everything else becomes secondary.
Many luminaires are replaced not because the LED technology is exhausted, but because the housing, coating, gaskets, fixings, and materials have been degraded by moisture, salt, UV radiation, and temperature cycling. Once corrosion, cracking, or ingress takes hold, the risk of secondary failures in electronics and optics increases rapidly.

MATERIAL CHOICE
SMC is a well-established material choice.
Same age. 21 years outdoors. Different material outcomes.
SMC composite has long been used in demanding electrical and industrial environments. The image shows an SMC enclosure and a same-age metal enclosure photographed 21 years after installation. When the material does not require paint or metallic corrosion protection, there is less to degrade.

Pigmented throughout — no paint or surface coating required

Corrosion-free housing — no surface rust or galvanic corrosion

Electrically insulating and durable in humid environments

APPLICATIONS
Six environments. One fundamental requirement: the luminaire must last.
COASTAL & MARINE ENVIRONMENTS
Salt spray, UV, and repeated weather loading.
Coastal roads and promenades are exposed to salt spray, moisture, UV radiation, and thermal movement that accelerates degradation of conventional metal housings and protective coatings. Harbour walkways and coastal roads present sustained corrosion loading throughout the luminaire's service life.
The VALDUR SMC composite housing is unaffected by these factors. No coating to maintain. No surface corrosion. No galvanic reaction with steel structures.
HARBOURS & QUAYSIDES
Salt loading, mechanical impact, and operational reliability.
Working harbours combine sustained high salt loading with mechanical exposure from traffic, cargo, and handling operations. Luminaires installed here must exceed standard requirements. Marine atmosphere with mechanical exposure demands both chemical resistance and structural toughness.
VALDUR is rated for salt-intensive marine coastal environments and meets IK08 for mechanical resistance. The SMC housing does not react galvanically with steel structures in harbour or quayside mounting.
MUNICIPAL ROAD LIGHTING
20+ years with low maintenance demand.
For municipal road lighting, the decision involves more than installation cost. Lifecycle cost analyses consistently show that maintenance, replacements, and outages dominate total cost over time. Urban arterial roads, residential streets, and roundabouts all benefit from a luminaire with a long, predictable service life.
With an LED module service life of 100,000 hours (L70) and an SMC housing requiring no maintenance treatment, VALDUR is designed for long-term municipal commitments. DALI-2 compatible for intelligent lighting management.
PEDESTRIAN & CYCLE PATHS
Uniform light distribution and simplified installation.
Shared-use paths, park corridors, and urban greenways require glare-free lighting with uniform light distribution at lower mounting heights. The VALDUR Type II optic (STRADA-2×2) delivers good light distribution without uncomfortable reflections towards path users.
Weighing from 7.2 kg, VALDUR simplifies installation on slender columns and wall brackets, reducing both installation time and structural loading.
INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES
High output, robust housing, long operating hours.
Industrial sites and logistics zones require high illuminance levels, extended operating hours, and a luminaire housing that can withstand chemical exposure, dust, and mechanical loading. Chemical plant environments and acid atmospheres place particular demands on material resistance.
VALDUR 100 delivers up to 10,147 lm at high efficacy. IP66 and IK08 ensure reliable performance even in demanding industrial operating environments with long duty cycles.
NATURE RESERVES
Lighting that respects darkness.
In nature reserves and ecologically sensitive areas, light pollution is a genuine problem for nocturnal wildlife. Insects, seabirds, and marine fauna are all affected by blue and white light emissions. Amber optic minimises blue-light emission and reduces impact on nocturnal fauna and insects.
The VALDUR Amber/Bio optic (1900–3000 K) with spectral filtering blocks up to 99 % of blue light. Combined with DALI dimming and presence detection, environmental impact is minimised throughout the installation's service life.
